Wild fire safety Have fun while staying safe with these camp fire tips!

Nothing beats a fun day of camping coming to a close with sharing smores around a campfire. You want to make sure that your family, the people around you and the environment are being safe when having a campfire though. Follows these tips for keeping a campfire from getting out of control.

-Make sure you are at a camp site that allows campfires to be used.

-Make sure the area where you are lighting the fire is cleared of debris.

-Do not pull sticks out of the fire after putting them into it.

-Store your extra wood away from the lit fire.

-Be cautious when using lighter fluid.

-Keep a bucket of water and a shovel nearby in case of emergencies.

-Never leave a fire unattended.

In the United States nearly 9 out of every 10 wildfires are caused by people not practicing safety habits and being careful. Make sure you are being safe because (in the wise words of Smokey the Bear) “Only you can prevent wildfires”.
